4 in 5 Japanese oppose military attack on Iraq: Kyodo poll
TOKYO, March 16 Kyodo - Four out of every five Japanese oppose a U.S.-led
military attack on Iraq, while just over one in 10 people support it, a
Kyodo News survey showed Sunday.
The telephone poll, conducted Saturday and Sunday, indicated that 79.7% of respondents oppose an attack the United States and Britain are preparing against Iraq, up 1 percentage point from the previous survey last month. Supporters comprised fell 2.6 points to 12.9%. Japan has expressed support for a new U.N. Security Council resolution introduced by the U.S., Britain and Spain that would authorize use of force against the Iraqi government of President Saddam Hussein. |
